Student Eligibility and Application Process

Program Eligibility

In order for student to participate as a Fellow in the Central Valley College Corps (CVCC), they must meet the following basic criteria:

  • Have a high school diploma or its equivalent (I.e., GED) by the beginning of 2022-2023 academic year
  • Full-time, enrolled undergraduate student attending Fresno City College or Fresno State
  • No minimum GPA, but students must currently be and remain in good academic standing
  • Ability to commit to the program for the full academic year
  • Not participating in a semester off-campus (ex. Study Abroad)

This Fellowship is designed to target low- to moderate-income students. Students selected to join the Fellowship should therefore meet at least one of the following criteria:

How to Apply

The application process for this program is rather extensive. Below, is an outline of the steps to follow. Be sure to follow each of the steps and frequently check your email throughout the process to ensure a timely response to all requests for information and interviews.

Thanks to the interest of hundreds of students, we have exceeded our expectations for program applicants! As a result we have closed the application process for new applicants (as of August 26, 2022). We will be recruiting again for the 2023-24 academic year next spring.

Step 1:

Student completes program eligibility and certification form. (Note that this form is no longer available as of August 26, 2022.)

Step 2:

Student eligibility is confirmed with their campus Financial Aid Office and/or Admissions.

Step 3:

Once student eligibility is verified, they will be sent an application package with instructions.

Step 4

Student completes and submits full application and attends a screening interview.

Step 5

Once student passes through the pre-screening process, their application will be forwarded to community hosts for review.

Step 6

Community hosts contact students and conduct interviews with applicants. Hosts make a selection for their placements and offer a position to student.

Step 7

Student accepts offer from the community host, confirms placement with CVCC staff, and begins the onboarding process.
